volleyball tournament

The amazing Lady Bruins are headed to Bozeman on Wednesday to play in the first round of the state volleyball tournament! See below for the bracket. The first game is at 4:00. It is also really important that we represent Gardiner, the town and the school, well by displaying good sportsmanship and remaining positive throughout the tournament.

MHSA does have some rules for the tournaments (see below). Let's show everyone how awesome Gardiner is!

Students’ habits and reaction as spectators determine the quality of sportsmanship, which reflects upon the reputation of the school.  Profane and abusive language and obnoxious behavior have no place at an athletic contest.

  •  Know and demonstrate good sportsmanship.  Good sportsmanship means always being positive with your response to the contest.

  • Respect and cooperate with the cheerleaders.

  • Respect the property of the school and the authority of the school officials.

  • Show respect for an injured player and do not heckle or jeer the opposing team.

  • Remember athletic contests and mood-altering substances do not mix.

  • Do not use profanity in cheers or direct profane statements at officials, players, coaches or opposing cheering sections.

  • Do not single out opposing players personally and heckle them by directing derogatory or profane statements/chants at them.  Racist remarks are never acceptable.

  • Do not advance on the court or field to protest or communicate with officials, coaches or players.

  • Do not direct offensive cheers/chants at opposing cheering sections.

  • Shirts must be worn at all contests.

  • The student sections are prohibited from any activity that poses a safety risk or interferes with competition, including jumping or bouncing on the bleachers at any time.

 Other reminders:

·       School mascots cannot engage in antagonistic behavior and must remain in their own cheering section.

·       By MHSA rules, noisemakers are prohibited at indoor events (MHSA Handbook, page 31, J).  Artificial noisemakers prohibited at games include but are not limited to:  cowbells, sirens, clackers, vuvuzelas, thundersticks, cans or bottles with marbles or rocks inside, popping of paper bags and various other creations.
