Grade 7-12 Student Information

Dear Gardiner Students,
    This week we are working at the school to prepare for distance learning and do our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19.  Your continuing education and ability to obtain credit for your current classes is our greatest priority. The Governor of Montana has laid out a plan for schools to follow to make sure that you are able to continue making progress in your education.  In order for us to meet the Governor’s requirements the teachers have worked together to develop a plan for distance learning for Gardiner School. There are several things that you can do this week to help prepare for distance learning that will begin on Monday, March 30, 2020.

• Make sure that you can log in to Infinite Campus.  If you cannot, contact the school at 406-848-7563 to get your login information.
  
• Make sure that you can log in to your Gardiner.org email account.  If you cannot login, contact the school 406-589-3207 to get your login information. Clean out your in-box so that you receive current emails beginning on 3/30/20.
  
• Add the ‘Google Drive’ app and ‘Google Classroom’ app to your cell phone for easier uploads 
  

This week you should expect to hear from all of your teachers who will be surveying each class to check for technology needs and to verify that we are connected digitally.  Please make sure to respond to their messages because if you do not respond they will be calling your family to make contact.  
We will be using Google Classroom for our primary digital classroom platform.  You are responsible for keeping your email inbox organized and managing communications from your teachers regarding coursework.  To access your Google Classroom settings you will need to go to the Classroom landing page (where you see all of your courses) and in the upper left hand corner you will see three bold lines.  Click on this menu and scroll to the bottom and select ‘settings.’ This is where you can modify your notifications to meet your needs.
What to expect during digital learning:

• On Monday, March 30, 2020 your teacher will share with you an overview of how the course will work and will review expectations and appropriate online behaviors.
  
• Each teacher will be holding a virtual meeting using Google Meet one day per week for approximately 30 minutes to connect with the class.  The teachers will share the schedule we have developed.
  
• Each course will report grades into Infinite Campus each week to demonstrate progress while we are doing digital learning.  Students who do not turn in work and show progress will receive a phone call from the teacher to identify why work is not being turned in.  Parents will still receive a weekly email on Mondays from Infinite Campus if there is missing work. Please contact the teacher if you have turned in the work and are receiving notifications.
